Construction Jobs in Canada

Are you looking for construction jobs in Canada? Well, in that case, you don’t have to worry. The construction sector in Canada contributes a lot to the overall strength as well as the development of the nation’s economy. More than 1.3 million people in Canada get a job in the construction sectors such as oil, gas, mining, institutional, commercial and industrial (ICI) buildings, residential and infrastructure. Also, it accounts for about 7% of gross domestic product (GDP).

In Canada, the constant growth of economy as well as aging population are the reasons behind the huge demand for trades people and construction professionals. Also, there can be seen that the demand for experienced and skilled labor is always more than the supply. Canada, being the second largest country in the world, is home to 36 million people. Still, the huge construction sector of this country depends on the international workers in order to fulfill their need.
A large number of local as well as international workers are relocating so that they can be a part of the rising industrial sector. It is because of this reason that other areas of construction jobs in Canada are experiencing a shortage of skilled professionals. This attracted the foreign workers and they came to Canada looking for opportunity. In order to be a part of the oil sands boom, Fly-in-fly-out (FIFO) workers from all over the world came to Fort McMurray. The shortage of labor became worse, as employers in Toronto and Vancouver were losing their employees to the industrial sector and were looking for international workers to come and join them.

The Canadian companies that organize international recruitment could see this increased demand as there was shortage of skills across all construction. Employers got the permission to bring international workers, as the local supply of labor failed to meet their demand. There was a surge in the construction of gas and oil plants because of high prices of oil. In the resource sector, local Canadians were moving towards getting higher paid roles and this is what leads to the demand for foreign workers to fill their gaps in Canada.
What are the most demanding construction jobs in Canada?
  • Senior Project Managers – ICI Buildings & Infrastructure
  • Project Directors – ICI (Institutional, Commercial and Industrial) Buildings & Infrastructure
  • Design Managers – ICI Buildings & Infrastructure
  • Senior Superintendents – ICI Buildings & Infrastructure
  • Schedulers –Infrastructure
  • Senior Estimators – ICI Buildings & Infrastructure

How to get a job in Canada

Understanding the Canadian job market
Like in any first world country the Canadian job market is rather promising. It is for this reason that many across the globe come to Canada to study and then seek employment. Irrespective of what the job is, dignity of labour is held in high regard. To add to this Canadian citizens enjoy a wide range of benefits. Prior to applying for any job, individuals must ensure that they have the following things to start them off.
  • A well written Resume/CV
A well drafted resume is an absolute must for anyone applying for a job. This resume should not merely be well written but it should also be well formatted. There are many ways in which you can choose to make your resume more presentable whether it is by attaching recommendation letters or putting a little bit off a personal touch in it. No employee would like to hire an individual who submits a resume with multiple errors. Apart from this candidates seeking employment should have both a hard and soft copy of their CV.
  • A convincing Cover Letter
Apart from an updated CV, candidates who wish to get a job, should have a cover letter. Cover letters serve as a prelude to the CV. If the cover letter is not well written then it is unlikely that you will be called in for an interview. It is the cover letter that gives individuals the chance to really sell themselves and convince the recruiter to get in touch at the earliest.
  • In-depth knowledge in the field
Prior to applying for even the most basic job an in-depth knowledge about the job and the field is a must. Candidates should either brush up their skills by spending time reading books or even look up statistics online which they can quote once they are called in for the interview. There is no point reading up things after the interview has been scheduled because then your mind might be too nervous to process new information.
  • Good communication skills
To get any job in Canada good communication skills are an absolute must. If you are unsure of yourself and never like to put your thoughts forward, then you should seek help from a professional who can help you get out of your shell.
  • Practical wisdom and common sense
Practical wisdom as well as common sense is something that is held in high regard in Canada. Theoretical knowledge is something that is truly appreciated but it is not valued the way in which common sense is. If this is an area you are lacking in, then you should work on developing your common sense. You can do this by solving puzzles or working out mathematical probl
  • Important documents in place
In addition to having a CV or a cover letter, having all your documents in place is a must. Prior to taking anyone on board, HR departments in any company insist that workers have all their documents up to date and in proper order. These documents include, medical documents, criminal records, look books/ portfolios, educational certificates etc.

For any individual seeking employment these same rules apply, but if you are seeking employment in Canada having a work permit is an absolute must. There are very few companies willing to employ people that do not have work permits. In the major economic hubs like Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver or Calgary all employment related rules are taken very seriously.
ems.

Apart from good communication, there are various other skills which employees are expected to have. These include
-Time management skill
-Problem solving skill
-Technical Skill
Based on your likes, dislikes, personality and educational qualifications, you should seek employment. There is no point opting for a job which you know that you will not be happy doing. Getting a job in Canada is tough indeed, yet it is not impossible. If you are lacking in some skills, you ought to work on yourself and in time to come you will automatically get better job offers. There is no shame in starting from the bottom and making your way to the top.

If you are unable to work full time you can well apply for a part time job. It is usually parents or students that apply for part time jobs. For even the smallest job like walking dogs or babysitting, there is an interview conducted. These interviews might be face to face, via Skype or even on the telephone.

Do you want to come to Canada?

Canada Adds 43000 New Jobs in March/April – What are you waiting for?

It’s getting easier to find a job in Canada.

That’s according to the latest findings from Statistics Canada. The agency reports that while the unemployment rate in March was 7.0 percent, springtime has brought more than sun and flowers by gifting Canadians with a 6.9 percent unemployment rate in April.

This also means that 43,000 new jobs opened up to Canadians searching for employment, although most of these jobs are considered part-time. However, the unemployment rate is decreasing at a noticeable rate that is causing  economists to force themselves to smile again and even anticipate next month’s percentages.

Although the number of new jobs created was a pleasant surprise to government officials as well as unemployed Canadians, the bigger and better surprise was the fact that most new jobs went to younger Canadians–those between 15 and 24 years old–a demographic that has been sorely left behind in the job market during the recession and recovery.
Breaking it down by region, the most new jobs were created in British Columbia (18,300); Quebec (15,100) and 13, 400 in Ontario.
Alternately, Prince Edward Island, Manitoba, Alberta and Nova Scotia experienced a minor drop in job openings.

Overall, these numbers provided by Statistics Canada are consistent with the prevailing view that Canada’s economy is steadily but slowly expanding. In addition, it should be encouraging to Canadians who have been looking for a job that the unemployment rate remained at its lowest level since 2008 and 2009, the two years that were easily the worst years of the last recession.

Canada Job Vacancies: for Overseas Foreign Workers (OFW)

The Philippine Overseas Employment Administration announced today the job vacancies for Filipinos who wish to work in Canada. The MOU signed by the Philippines and Canada last October 7 communicates that it aims to implement streamlined, efficient and ethical recruitment practices in human resource between the county and the Canadian province of Saskatchewan.

Saskatchewan

Throughout an interview with Jeriel Domingo, OIC and deputy administrator of the POEA, he clarified the effects of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for those who wish to be employed.

14,000 job openings are expected to open for foreign workers in Canada, mostly in agricultural areas, with the majority of employees being farm workers. The basic age would be something like $8 to $10 an hour.
This wage entices Filipinos in particular although the POEA reminded those who were interested in this opportunity to recognise the risks they would face once they begin to work abroad and not to condone transactions with online recruiters.

Job opportunities in Canada specifically in the Province of Saskatchewan, should not incur a placement fee, according to POEA OIC and Deputy Administrator Jeriel Domingo.
Upon workers being hired in Saskatchewan, employers should reimburse the worker’s plane tickets to the Canada.

How to get Canadian Employers Interested in You?

Canada offers a wide selection of jobs for foreigners, jobs that are in high demand, allowing those hiring to choose only the best candidates for the position. Because of the sheer number of applicants for certain openings, there are a few good tips and trick you can follow to make sure you garner the attention you want and get hired while you are at it.

a) Be professional – when you are looking to bring out your best qualities, professionalism can get you farther than you think. It will help you showcase everything you have to offer without seeming vain or showy. It also gives a good impression as to what an employer can expect of you, so paint yourself in a good light without taking it too far.

b) Make your resume one to remember – While some prefer to create showy and gaudy resumes, this is one case in which less is more. Choose a design that is minimalistic but allows you to bring your experience to the forefront. Don’t waste time and space writing about childhood memories and history an employer might not be interested in. Instead, place your work experience right at the front, where it can be seen at a cursory glance. This will catch the attention of even the busiest employer, increasing your chances at landing the job of your dreams.

c) Last, but not least, keep a record of letters of recommendation and make sure you add copies of them to back up your work experience. There is nothing better than have other people tell potential employers how great you were during your time with them, making them want to hire you as soon as they can.

Canada hiring more Filipinos to fill out 14,000 job vacancies

At a time in which the rest of the world is facing severe economic problems, Canada is beating all expectations with an economy that has only kept on growing. Because of this, and Canada’s new immigration policies and agreements, over 14,000 new job openings have been made available to Filipinos and the citizens of other Asian countries.

Opening these jobs to foreigners helps serve two purposes, on one hand, skilled professionals from the Philippines who are planning on visiting Canada in search of a job, while helping Canada¥s booming economy continue to grow by creating new industrial inlets that lead, in time, to the availability more jobs.
More and more Canadian employers are choosing Filipino workers to fill  both temporary and permanent positions, granting those who are interested in moving to Canada an open door that could lead to the job of your dreams, and while Canada may seem like it is too far away, the truth is that you can apply for thousands of Canadian jobs with just one click!

Make Canadian Employers WANT to Consider Your Profile

Your resume is usually the first glimpse an employer gets of you and your skills. You resume is, in essence, the key to a new job and better opportunities for the future. Because of this, great care should go into the creation of your resume or you risk losing the attention of potential employers and being passed over for a less capable candidate.
When you are searching for a new job, whether at home or abroad, your resume will be the calling card you need to open the door to a world full of possibilities, but for that to happen you must make it as professional as possible.

Your resume should make employers want YOU to work for them, instead of the other way around. Because of the importance of a great resume and the amount of work that goes into making it perfect, sometimes the best option is to retain the services of a professional CV writer who has the knowledge and expertise required to grab the attention of potential employers in Canada and anywhere else.
